QUINCY, MA — The Colorado Division of Fire Safety has adopted the most recent edition of NFPA 1, “Fire Prevention Code.” Adopted in 16 states, NFPA 1 is designed to ensure public safety from hazards caused by fire and explosion. Its primary purposes are to address basic fire prevention requirements and to reference or extract the fire prevention and protection aspects of other NFPA codes and standards.

Colorado also has adopted more than 20 additional NFPA codes and standards, including NFPA 72, “National Fire Alarm Code”; NFPA 13, 13D, and 13R, which address the installation of sprinkler systems; and NFPA 25, “Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.” Other codes and standards adopted include provisions for fire extinguishing systems and other fire and chemical protection measures.
